Miracles do happen at Christmas!
Added: 24/12/2011
The story is a personal one for me. Ten years ago, my Uncle Pete lost his dog from his backyard in Sydney. Inka was one year old and she and Pete were inseparable. He was devastated by the loss, and despite months of efforts to find her, she never turned up.
Two days ago, he got a phone call from the RSPCA in Byron Bay, to say that they had found Inka. She had been seized from a property in Byron Bay, where she had been confined to a cage on the back of a truck. Her condition was not good, she was emaciated, her bottom teeth worn down to stubs, and she had wear marks on her body.
Thanks to a microchip, and the fact that Pete had kept his original mobile number, Inka has been reunited with her mate!
Amazingly, the past 24 hours have seen a lift in her spirit, with a sparkle returning to her dull, reddened eyes, and a big smile on her face. Already, she is becoming Pete's little shadow, following him around just like she used to! Despite the last ten years of her life, being tough ones, she has still retained her beautiful, kind nature, and with Pete's nurturing and love, she will spend the last few years of her life in happiness.
